We Must Protect The Secret Ballot

Voting by secret ballot is an integral part of our history and American democracy.

But, that right is under attack.

The deceptively named 'Employee Free Choice Act' -- Big Labor's #1 priority -- would strip workers of their right to a secret ballot in union organizing elections if a majority of employees sign union authorization cards (a process known as "card check"). Making it easier for unions to organize.

For more than 60 years we've guaranteed workers the right to a private ballot, but now the Democrats want to change that. Why? They want to payback Big Labor for financing the Democrats' 2006 and 2008 election campaigns.

Working men and women have the right to decide for themselves whether or not they want to join a union. If Democrats pass card check legislation, rather than voting by secret ballot, Americans who are happy with their jobs and have no desire to form a union would be singled out and intimidated. Workers shouldn't have to raise their hand in front of a room full of Big Labor bosses and fellow employees.
